Understanding Piles, Fissures, and Fistulas: Unveiling Symptoms and Treatment

When it comes to ailments affecting the digestive system, three common conditions often cause discomfort and pain, yet are not frequently discussed openly. Piles, fissures, and fistulas are issues that can lead to significant discomfort and inconvenience.

Piles (Hemorrhoids):

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen veins in the lower part of the rectum and anus. They can be internal or external, leading to symptoms such as:

  2. Itching and irritation in the anal area.
  3. Pain or discomfort during bowel movements.
  4. A lump near the anus, which may be sensitive or painful.

Fissures:

An anal fissure is a small tear in the thin, moist tissue (mucosa) that lines the anus. Some common symptoms include:

  1. Pain during bowel movements.
  2. Bright red blood on the stool or toilet paper.
  3. Itching or irritation around the anus.
  4. A visible crack or tear in the skin around the anus.

Fistulas:

An anal fistula is an abnormal connection between the lining on the inside of the anus and the skin around the anus. Some symptoms include:

  1. Pain and swelling around the anus.
  2. Persistent or intermittent discharge of pus.
  3. Skin irritation and redness around the anus.
