(Leopard’s Bane)

Clinical Indications:
Chief remedy for injuries, trauma, shocks, and conditions arising from overexertion, falls, contusions, or blunt trauma. It’s also used for post-surgical recovery, sprains, bruises, and even mental/emotional trauma.


Key Characteristics:

1. Trauma and Injury

  • Injuries from falls, blows, contusions.
  • Bruised, sore feeling as if beaten.
  • Skin may appear dark, discolored, ecchymosed (bruised).
  • Useful before and after surgery to reduce shock and promote healing.

2. Muscles and Overexertion

  • Sore, lame, bruised sensation.
  • Overexertion from work or exercise.
  • Muscular strain, sprains, or stiffness.

3. Mind

  • Fears being touched or approached due to pain.
  • Says “there is nothing the matter,” wants to be left alone (even if seriously ill).
  • Shock from trauma with fear and denial.

4. Head and Brain Injuries

  • History of concussion.
  • Head feels hot, body cold.
  • Sleepiness after trauma.

5. Cardiovascular

  • Ecchymosis, bleeding under the skin.
  • Helps in septic states following injury.

6. Fever

  • Chilly with heat of head.
  • Hot sweat on body, coldness of extremities.

Modalities (Aggravation/Amelioration)

  • Worse: Touch, motion, rest, cold, damp conditions.
  • Better: Lying down, external pressure, warmth.

Constitution

  • Person feels bruised and beaten.
  • Fear of being touched or approached.

Dosage

  • External: Tincture or dilution for application on unbroken skin.
  • Internal: 30C for trauma; 6C or 200C depending on acuteness of condition.
  • Avoid tincture on open wounds.
