KALI BICHROMICUM

(Bichromate of Potash)

Clinical Indications:
A powerful remedy, especially for mucous membrane affections, where the discharges are tough, stringy, ropy, and yellow. Acts best in fat, fair, flabby individuals.


Key Characteristics:

1. Mucous Membranes

  • Discharges: thick, tenacious, ropy, and yellow, difficult to expel.
  • Particularly effective in the respiratory tract: nose, throat, and lungs.

2. Sinus and Nose

  • Sinusitis with pressure at the root of the nose.
  • Nasal discharge is thick, stringy, yellow-green.
  • Ulceration in septum, post-nasal drip.
  • Loss of smell.

3. Throat and Cough

  • Tough mucus in throat, must hawk constantly.
  • Pain at root of tongue on swallowing.
  • Cough with tough, yellow mucus; worse in the morning.

4. Stomach

  • Gastritis and ulcers.
  • Round ulcers with punched-out edges (also applies to other mucous surfaces).
  • Nausea with load in stomach after eating.

5. Skin

  • Ulcers with defined, punched-out edges.
  • Boils, carbuncles with ropy pus.
  • Eczema that oozes sticky, honey-like fluid.

6. Rheumatism

  • Wandering pains, worse in the morning.
  • Pains shift suddenly and may alternate with gastric symptoms.

Modalities (Aggravation/Amelioration)

  • Worse: Morning (especially 2–3 a.m.), cold, damp weather, beer.
  • Better: Heat, motion.

Constitution

Best suited to: Fat, fair, flabby individuals who tend to be chilly and sluggish.


Dosage

  • Lower potencies (3x to 6x) often used for mucous membrane discharges.
  • Higher potencies for constitutional use.
